Truly a once in a lifetime photograph and one of my favourite images to date. An image taken during a two week trip to Japan in October of 2025 with my girlfriend. I had one night planned to shoot the milkyway during this trip and I set out to do a timelapse from sunset to milkyway rise over Mt Fuji. Months ahead I planned, looking for a location that would hopefully give me a reflection of Fuji over water, where the milkyway would rise over Fuji in the evening, and Lake Yamanaka ticked those boxes. As I was setting up in the afternoon I was treated to an incredible sunset where the suns rays created this beam of light coming off the peak of Fuji which lead to this image.
